The Speaker of the U.S. House, Dennis Hastert, Republican Majority Leader, is outraged. John Kerry made those crooks and lying comments in IL, his state? But there’s Hastert right behind President Bush in the Medicare-Drug-Law-signing photo. Did he get it past his own Party by lying about its true cost?
He called Kerry a “tax and spend” Democrat. After all, that “Big Dig” in Boston is costing $15 Billion! The incredible construction of this huge Public Works Project has been shown on TV. Sure looks like it’s “for the Common Good”. On the other hand, $17 Billion to benefit Boeing is Hastert’s idea of a good thing?
The Air Force turned down Boeing’s unsolicited offer to sell them 36 refueling tankers for $125 million each. Then came the September 11th attack, and now it’s a lease deal for 100 planes? …“slipped into a congressional appropriations bill at the last minute, without any congressional hearings or even a formal request from the Air Force”, writes James Surowiecki in the 9-22-03 The New Yorker. That’s not crooked?
Senator John McCain says there was no Analysis of Alternatives (AOA) about the tankers. Expert government staffers have said it’s a really bad deal. But the Pentagon Inspector General says there’s no reason the deal shouldn’t go thru. Hastert told the President we need the planes, and Hastert rules the “College of Cardinals”, as George Crile calls them in Charlie Wilson’s War.

Andy Rooney of CBS TV’s “60 Minutes” apparently called Mel Gibson “wacko”.
The Fox TV talk-show-guy Hannity telephoned Mel to ask what he thought of that.
“If he had a pair” …Mel said, implying that Andy didn’t have the courage to insult Mel to his face.
Hannity and Mel kept talking, and again “He obviously doesn’t have a pair”, was said, referring to Andy.
Mel says he made the movie “The Passion” to show his Faith. So where’s his belief in the forgiveness Jesus taught? Jesus took the insults, asking God to forgive his tormentors because they were ignorant. Mel did not imitate Christ.
Mel was mad. But the only time Jesus became angry was when he saw the priests and others making money off the religious practices of the people. Would Jesus be mad at Mel?

Wounded National Guard and reserve troops are staying in hotels as they wait for, or receive treatment at military bases. It’s better than being in barracks with no toilets as reported in October, but they’re often far from home. Family members drive long distances and rack up huge phone bills.
One husband is frustrated, as his wife, who suffered a compound fracture of her knee, waits 450 miles away from home, for the army to decide if she should stay on active duty or be discharged. The “process” could take a year and a half!
Families are valuable in healing and rehabilitation. If George Bush started planning to invade Iraq as soon as he got in the White House, why were no plans made for the Wounded? No money?
But the Pentagon’s inspector general says there’s no reason not to spend $17,000,000,000 to rent refueling tankers from Boeing! We could buy them for $12,500,000,000! And use the savings to pay for vouchers so our wounded troops could buy medical care at home.
I thought the face of Jesus looked familiar. James Caviezel was in “High Crimes”, with Ashley Judd, and Morgan Freeman.
Did the FBI destroy evidence of others helping Timothy McVeigh? The movie “Arlington Road”, with Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins applies.
History made way too real: “Ride with the Devil”, with Toby McGuire, and Jewel.
“History’s Mysteries” is a regular show on Public Television.
